SUSTAINABLE FISHING

altWe have the MSC certificate, one proof among others that the parent company engaged in fish production adheres to the rules for sustainable fisheries.

A Code of Responsible Fishing has been adopted by NBAMR, in line with the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries adopted by the FAO in 1995, to introduce into its practices new principles of sustainable fishing. Based on this Code, the company’s representatives actively participate in various processes devoted to preserving biological

In this context, during the Third International Fishery Congress, the project of Russian Pollock Fishery Improvement Partnership (FIP) was officially launched. The main goals of the FIP are to promote teamwork among companies (producers, customers and international organizations) on securing a long-term stable supply of fish products and a healthy Russian pollock ecosystem. That is why the first task of the FIP is to consolidate resources, experience and knowledge to help and support the Pollock Association (PA) in its efforts to achieve compliance of the Russian

pollock fishery with MSC standards (and gain MSC certification). By sharing the principles of the MSC approach to organizing a stable fishery, the FIP supports the Pollock Association in becoming certified. Independent organization Moody Marine was given the task of evaluation (of the Russian pollock fishery), and the process certification for Russian fisheries.

Members of the Partnership expect that such cooperation will allow companies to implement sustainable fishing principles much faster, perpetuating fisheries as long as is required. At the same time, these measures will preserve ecosystems and maintain the highest level of harvest, mitigating any damage from these activities and facilitating economic and social development, both at present and in the future.
